September is drawing near and with it comes the end of brook trout season where I live. These are the days of fine colour and wonderful cool air. Waters are easier to wade and the general feeling is one of serenity. I'll be heading out to one of my favourite brook trout lakes this week. I'll take fly rod and inflatable pontoon boat. Later, I'll visit a cherished river and make a day of it. This month hunting season begins in earnest. Soon, I'll trade fly rod for bow, rifle and shotgun.
Time is running out to pursue those last chance brookies. It would be a sin to let that opportunity slip by.
