Here's hoping all of you have had an excellent holiday season and New Year. Here in Algonquin country the snow is 8 inches deep and winter is finally making an appearance. That means ice fishing, snowshoeing, a bit of rabbit hunting and lots of fly tying.
Winter, for me at least, is largely about filling fly boxes and planning for the spring adventures to come. I've been tying quite a few bucktail streamers of late. Mickey Finns, Waterman's Silver Outcasts, Scripture fly Number Ones to name a few.
After that. I'll replenish my woolly bugger and muddler minnow stocks as well as tie a few chironomids, nymphs, dries and wets. With less than 90 days until April, there's no time to waste.
Good times are here.
