You'd think a fly named Warden's Worry would have an honoured place in every fly tyer's box. Like all the old northeast bucktail streamers, however, it is rarely seen these days. That's a shame too. This pattern, which earned quite a reputation for trout in lakes and rivers is also, as I was to find out last summer, a pretty good smallmouth bass fly too. My friend John Ross and me were fishing for smallmouth on a local lake that holds lots of decent fish. We were catching the odd one here and there but certainly not setting the world...
