Partridge and Green

There's something about a soft-hackled wet fly that just screams fly fishing and tradition. They are, at once, simple and elegant. I tied a dozen of these this evening while watching TV and spending time with the family. This one is a minor variation of a Partridge and Green pattern.  Tomorrow, I'll tie a dozen Grouse and Orange.  Spring is on its way. It's time to fill those fly boxes.

The recipe for this pattern is:

Hook: Standard wet fly hook from size 8 to 18

Body: Thread, according to colour, 8/0 or finer

Dubbing: a tuft of hare's mask dubbing

Hackle: Hungarian partridge
